- In olden times stampy was made in nearly every house but in the last years it is not so common. It is generally made by first grating the potatoes, then putting them into a light cloth and squeezing the water from them.A tough cloth is then got. It is well greased first and then floured so that water will not be able to go through it. The potatoes are then made into rolls and rolled in flour. The rolls are put into the cloth and the cloth is tied at both ends. They are then boiled. When boiled they are sliced and then fried on the pan in butter.
