    Food in olden times
Long ago there was no rich food used by the people like what is used now and signs were on them they were much stronger, healthier, better workers and lived longer than the people nowadays.
Three meals a day was all they would eat in the morning in the noon and in the evening.
Before their breakfast they would have as much work done as people do for a day's work now. Then they would come in and have their breakfast of griddle cake and milk. Griddles were the only implements used then for baking.
At dinner time their usual food was potatoes and buttermilk, and in the evening, porridge and new milk. When the potato crop failed they used to use porridge for every meal as they could not afford to buy anything else. They also had to sell the milk and butter
