  1. Clothes made Locally
There are two tailors and two dressmakers in this district. They are - two Leavies and a Miss Dockery and a Miss Duffy.
The Leavies tailor for both men and women but they do not stock the cloth Their plinched tools are - a scissors, a thimble, reels of thread, an iron, and a pressing board. They always sit on a low table with their legs crossed when sewing and people often refer to them as - 'as cross legged as a tailor' or 'as bandy legged as a tailor' or "A tailor is the ninth part of a man."
Socks and stockings, and gloves, caps cardigans jumpers and children's suits are knit in the houses on long Winter nights.
No clothes are spun and made locally but we had a knitting and spinning class in the school last year given by a Miss Degnan, trying to revive these things.
