    They made up a plan that if they could get a good marksman to shoot the hang-man then they would rush in and free the priest.
    It happened that one man came forward, he was more or less intoxicated, but he was a crack shot.
    He took the gun and fired and killed the hang-man.
    The enemy got confused and frightened and so they ran. Then the Catholics ran in and freed the priest
