    Old Houses.
    The houses which existed in olden times were made of bog sod with a thatch roof. The thatch is made of rushes. The old house had a bed in the kitchen and they used to have the cow in the end of the house. The bed was called the settlebed.
    Sometimes the fire was on the centre of the floor and there was a hole in the roof to let out the smoke. Long ago there was no glass for windows only wooden shutters.
