- The Local Forge.
There is only one forge in the parish. The black-smith name is Thomas Dufficy, Carniska, Strokestown. His people have been smiths for about ninty years. It is situated on the road - side near the cross-roads in the townland of Lismehy. There is an iron roof on it and there is one fire place on it.
The shape of a bellows is oblong and it is worked by a handle which blows the fire and kindles it. The bellows were not made locally. The black-smith uses a hammer, a sledge, a pincers, a wrench, a tongs and a punch.
He shoes horses and asses and he makes gates and ploughs and repairs machinery(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
