The houses were more numerous in the townland formerly but there are five or six now in ruins. Many people emigrated from this district to America especially during the famine years of 1846 and 1847 and that is the cause of so many houses being in ruins.
Most of the land around here is low and wet and is not good for rearing cattle or sheep.
Slieve Bawn mountain is not far from here and there is a small wood on the top of it. There is also a river in the district but there is no lakes.
