Long ago people made starch from the potatoes. They were first grated with a grater. Then the pulp was squeesed in a small linen bag. The water that was obtained from it was allowed to settle. When this water was taken off the starch remained. Fresh water was added to the starch daily until the last water came off quite clear. The vessel in which the starch was, was placed in the sun to bleach and dry. After it was well dried and bleached it was [?] for household use.
