There are two graveyards in the parish of Bellanagare namely Kilcorky and Cloonshanville. The ruins of an old church is still to be seen in Kilcorky. It was the parish church one time. People are still buried within the ruins and beside is a vault.
In Cloomshanville the ruins of an old Abbey can be seen Friars lived there in the time of Cromwell. It is believed that in the time of Cromwell the friars were hunted from the Abbey and they went for a bog near by. The soldiers followed them and just as they were coming near them the ground opened and swallowed the friars. The holes are still to seen and music is to be heard at certain times there. In the time of Cromwell also the land where Cloonshanville Abbey stands were given to Davis a follower of Cromwell's As years went by they became Catholics.
