There is a ditch between Joseph Lynch's land of Corlis and James Campion's land Brackloon. Every Sunday between the two Masses one eel or long animal runs up the ditch. Three men are to watch, but they must stay from Mass and each have an asse's shoe with them. If the animal appears they are to throw the shoes and try if they can hit him, if they fail to strike him, he will strike them and kill them, but if any of them can hit him with the shoe then he dies and they can dig the ditch and get the gold, as the old people hand down the story that the gold is there and sometimes lights are to be seen there.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
