    Football and hurling was played in my parish long ago but these games were played very differently then from the way they are played now. All the spectators played and there was no limit to the number of players on a team. The games were not played in one field. The team that won had to put the ball into its opponents district. There were no goal-posts used that time. Later they played in one field. Then, there used be fifteen to twenty players. A player could hop the ball as many times as he liked. If two players caught the ball together they would leave it down and
