  1. O Jesus pity those poor souls,
    Who burn in cleansing fire
To soon behold You face to face
    Is now their one desire.
    They cannot help themselves to-dayt
And so they seek our aid,
That their admittance to Your Heart
    Be not too long delayed.
Hear they now hear our prayers for them
Those souls that are to You so dear
    Or relatives, perhaps our friends
Who once were with us here
    Now suffering in devouring flames
    They long for sweet release.
