    which stands near the well. Long ago there was a patern and sports and a fair held at Tobar Muire, and in later times faction fighting took. This was however transfered to Elphin where a fair, patern and sports are still held on the fifteenth of August.

  2. The animals of the farm are as follows:- Cow, horse, ass, calf, pig and goat. The fowl round our farm are the hen, duck, goose, turkey. The people do not give any names to the cows any names.

    When they are calling out the cows they say "Plugaidh, Plugaidh"

    When they are calling the calves out they say "Sucaidh, Sucaidh"

    When they are calling the pigs they say "Hurass, Hurass"

    When they are calling the horse they say "Peo, Peo". They say the same to an ass.

    They say "Minnie" to a goat.
    When calling the hen they say "Tiocfaidh, Tiocfaidh".
    When they say "Faoití, Faoití" they are calling the ducks.
    When they call the geese they say "Beadaigh, Beadaigh".
    The call the turkey "Yib Yib" or "Biadh, Biadh".

    The cows are tied by a chain to a stake. She is tied round the neck. The chain (is) bought in the shop.
    The calves are tied by a straw round the neck. It is called a "Sugán" or "Braidin".

  3. The churn used in ancient times was about four feet high. It is about two feet and a half on top and about three feet on the bottom. It consits of a churn and a dash.
