old as the oldest tomb stones in the graveyard.
There is a well-known local story connected with the Cloverhill graveyard. One night three men were to pass through the graveyard on a certain errand. They were conversing together that day as to the adventure which lay before them when night came. A man overheard their conversation and learned that they were going to rob a house. So that night he got a sheet from his bed and went to the graveyard. He waited at the gate till he saw in the distance three shadows coming towards him. He got into the shadow of a tree and put the sheet over his head in haste. Then he walked towards the three men, who, seeing him, ran like deer to their homes. After that they did not go through graveyards at night.
