Marriages frequently take place before Shrove Tuesday. The months and days considered to be unlucky for marriages are February and May, the days are Friday and Saturday. There are no customs or beliefs connected with Shrove There is no Match making carried on in the district.
Money is not given as dowry
Shrove Stock or goods are never given
People remember marriages taking place in the houses about forty years ago.
A wedding feast is held in the bride's house
Straw boys visit the house. Straw boys generally wear a lady's dress and sometimes a visors made from a piece of curtain is worn
Some of the straw boys wear visors purchased from the shops.
