The bride is to be the first person to cut the wedding-cake. Whoever gets a piece of it is supposed to put it under his pillow for three nights. He is to dream about his future wife or husband. He is not to tell his dream to any person.
- Time has brought a change in local marriage customs as well in many other things. At shrove-tide most marriages take place. May is considered a unlucky month, and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, are considered unlucky days for marriages. The reason why shrove-tide is chosen so much, is that the opening time of the year has come. Birds build their nests and the trees and plants begin(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
