    On May Eve bonfires were lit in Shrahane, Camross. The cattle were driven through them, This was supposed to protect them for the rest of the year against the Good People.
    Bonfires blazed to about 50 yrs ago in Derrycanton on the eve of St,Peter and Paul's day instead of St,John's Eve.
