  1. Long ago there lived in Clonohill a district between Roscrea and Mountrath, a man by the name of Helen now called Hyland with his family of sons and daughters one of his daughters called Mary was very beautiful and much admired by everyone, but quite suddenly she was changed into sickly old crone, all the family turned against her,as they knew she must have been left by the fairies. One member of the family, Mick, however did not share in this disloyalty and every Saturday night when he got his wages he secured a small parcel of tea, it being a luxury at that time, this he brewed on Sunday mornings while the rest of the family were at Mass and shared it with Mary, But one Sunday after drinking the tea she said "Mick" you have been always very good to me and if you will come with me to Aghavoe I will make you a rich man and seven generations after you,Mick who was a strong man and knew on fear felt the hair rise on his head "Mick", she says "your failing again" she said "Will you come" "I Won't" says he "we would be meeting the people coming from Mass.
