- Many years ago when England made the laws for Ireland,there was a law that any person playing any ball game would be executed. At that time there was a family named Brock living in Chapel Street Mountmellick. They had offended and officer of the English army.The officer of the English army swore to be revenged on them in some way.He waited for a long time but the Brocks were a peaceful law abiding family. But one day he saw young Willie Brock playing marbles on the road so he has him arrested in a charge of playing ball in public.
