   The boy promised he would come, so off he trotted. Not many minutes after coming to his father, the calf was born, so the little lad was dashing off with the news, anxious of course to get the bread and butter. The father demanded to know where he was going. The little boy told him.
   "Wait a moment," said the father, "And you may go." With that he stooped down and picked up a handful of clay and thrust it into the calfs' mouth. Then he brought the calf to its mother and let him get some milk.
   He the followed his small son, whom he met eating his promised bread and butter. He however went to the woman's house. When he reached the house, he found the door closed, He knocked, but getting no answer, raised the latch and walked in.
   When he got inside, he found the woman sitting on a low stool and she, as it were, performing the action on the pot hooks consistent with milking a cow. The hooks were dangling from the crane. The imaginary milk was going into a pot, which was tightly lidded.
   The man raised the lid, but it was full of clay. He had broken the spell by putting the clay in the calfs' mouth. If he had not done this, the pot would have been full of milk instead of clay.
