    This is a true story my mother told me. She heard it from her grandfather when she was a child. In the year 1798 there was g united Irish Camp on Barn-Hill Maddenstown Curragh Co. Kildare. Barn-Hill is situated midway between the towns lands of Kildoon and Maddenstown. There were men and women in this camp during the fight that was going on One woman gave birth to a baby and an Irish priest had to be got to christen the infant. The priest was Father Prendergast and he christened the Infant on the hill which was against the law. The priest was seen coming by the Informers. They had him arrested and he was court martialled by Colonel Baggot who had him hanged in Monasterevan Town. It was
