Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Measles:- "The child has the measles", said John the Baptist. "The time is short till he is well", said the Son of God.
    "When?" said John the Baptist.
    "Sunday morning before sunrise." said the Son of God.
    The foregoing passage to be repeated three times, kneeling at a cross for the three mornings before sunrise. The child will be cured by the following Sunday.
    To tame a horse:- whisper the Creed in his right ear on a Friday, and in his left ear on a Wednesday. Continue to this weekly till he is tame, for as he will be.
    For bite of a mad dog:- the touch from the hand of a seventh son cures bite of a mad dog.
    For bite of a mad dog:- six ozs. of rue, four ozs. of garlic, two ozs. of Venice treacle, and two ozs. of pewter filings. Boil for 2 hrs. in a close vessel, in 2 quarts of ale. Give a spoonful, fasting each morning till the cure is effected. The liquor should be strained before use.
    Toothache:- the patient must make a vow to God, the Blessed Virgin, and the new moon never to comb his hair on a Friday, - should he be cured. Whenever or wherever he first sees the new moon he must fall on his knees, and say five prayers in gratitude for the cure. Even if he is crossing a river he must do it.
    Toothache:- Carry in your pocket the two jaw-bones of a haddock.
    To vanish freckles:- anoint the freckles with the blood of a bull, or of a hare, or distilled water of walnuts.
    For the memory:- the whitest of frankincense beaten fine, and drun
