- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)In this ship there was a crew of twenty-two sorting out the mails, and twenty-one of them were drowned. An S.O.S. message was sent out which reached Dublin, and Life-boats were sent out immediately. At that time my father was in the Fire-brigade at Ballsbridge, and drove one of the ambulances to Dun Laoghaire, where the Life-boats arrived with the injured, and the people they found on the wreckage. The injured were taken to hospitals in Dublin. All that day the rescuing party was going back and forward, from Dublin to Dun Laoghaire, and at the end of the day the hospitals in Dublin were full with the survivors. Some of the people recovered and others died from shock and exposure.Informants name: - Mrs. T.
