- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)If you break a looking glass you will have seven years of bad luck.If you kill a cricket you will have bad luck.If you forget anything it is bad luck to return for it. If you kill a swan you will have bad luck.If you dig a 'giants' grave' you will have bad luck.If you cut down a 'lone-bush' you will have bad luck.If you find a four leafed shamrock you will have good luck.If you walk under anything you will grow no bigger.
- Giant's Grave is name given to dolmans in this area. They are very common in parishes of Killevan & Aghabog. In some townlands (ie. 'Carn' etc) there are as many as three or four to be found almost together.Lone-bush:- A "Gentle tree" as it is called, (usual is a whitethorn growing alone in midde of field). People have a horror of cutting (or even ploughing too near) such trees. They are regarded as places where the fairy makes his home & must be respected else one may expect bad-luck.
