- There are a lot of harmful weeds in our garden, dockens and chickenweed and others. Garlic is a great cure for an animal of the desease of tithers, and thistles are to fatten a pig, and nettles are for turkeys to pit red heads on them and to keep their stomachs right. The Garlic is put into the water and when it is green, and soft, the old people used to give it to the animal for a week or so till the animal is cured. The thistles are chopped up with other food and given to a pig, and the same is done with the nettles.
