- When farmers have a good deal of cows they usually put a name on every cow, such as Poll or Peggy. When people are driving the cows in or out, they say "hi, hi. Most of the cow-houses are long and slated, with about four apartments in them. Six cows are usually put in each division. When the farmers are tying the cows they put a chain or rope around the animals neck, and tie it to a pole which is standing up out of the floor.
There are emblems hung in most cow houses for luck, such as calves feet. If anyone was milking, they would [?] a jig to make the cow give more milk.- Bailitheoir
