On the centre of the table stood a large silver dish, which, as soon as the royal guest took seat, was uncovered and there to his dismay the King saw in the dish the head of Den all besmeared with blood. Th King was smitten with remorse at the readiness with which his wish had been carried out, and said he would give a dozen of his Knights if the bold outlaw
