- They used not put on the shoes until they got to the Chapel Gate & when Mass was over they would take them off again
- Not very long ago, an old beggar man named Bill Millea passed thro this district very often and he never wore a shoe.
- Coadys from Callan & Ryans from Thomastown used make leather.
