  1. James Cody (Callan), now over 80 years, composed poems on local happenings.
    John Locke (Callan) composed (1) "Dawn on the Hills of Ireland", (2) the "Old Abbey Well" & (3) "Calm Avon Ree".

  2. Crowdell as from P. Neill composed the "Peeler & th Goat". He was summoned for singing it on the street. When in Court, the Judge said to him --
    "Are you Crowdell the Poet
    The man that made the 'Peeler & the Goat?'"
    Crowdell answered:-
    "My name it is Crowdell
    Altho Im a poet
    A man made the peeler
    But a puck made the goat."
    He was a carpenter by trade. A tree fell on him & killed him.
