- Were & are made to catch rabbits. Snare-wire is bought & cut in long pieces called Strands. Six strands go to make a snare. They are twisted together & an "eye" made & the wire put out through the "eye" Twine is put out of the long bit of wire & tied to a stake.
When setting it get the rabbit's path & drive the stake firmly in the ground, leaving the loop of the snare out over the path. When the rabbit comes along & puts his head into it, he pulls & according as he is pulling, he makes it tighter until it kills him.- Bailitheoir
