- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)about 60 years old was the best walker in the parish of Tullogher. He could walk, and did walk from Ballykenna to Waterford in less than three hours, and back again in three more.
- Jack Dempsey (the same man mentioned by the Conways) could run like a hare. Some young men went to run against him one day and none of them could beat him.
He had very long legs and it is said that if he was walking across a field, when he would come to the ditch all he had to do was put his leg out over it as if it was level ground and walk on.
James Dobbyn of Ballykenna walked to Waterford and back in the same day to a fair.
One day Pat Dollard of Coolnahaw who is now about 80 years of age walked to Waterford for meat, from Coolnahaw, in less than three hours. The distance is fourteen miles.
