    There's joy to night in every heart
    From Ross to Tullaroan
    From Urlingford to famed Mooncoin
    From Callan town to Stroan
    While bonfires bright blaze through the night
    By Barrow, Suir and Nore
    To greet our flag untarnished still which Limerick failed to lower.
    Oh where's the heart that could feel sad while listening to those cheers
    They swept across the ocean mad to exile's longing ears
    With joy some sighed some while others cried
    As there in dazzling scene
    Kilkenny's star shone bright and far above the white and green
    Full fifty thousand hearts beat high
    Both long and loud they cheered
    And down a human avenue grand those thirty men appeared
