I
There's joy to night in every heart
From Ross to Tullaroan
From Urlingford to famed Mooncoin
From Callan town to Stroan
While bonfires bright blaze through the night
By Barrow, Suir and Nore
To greet our flag untarnished still which Limerick failed to lower.
Oh where's the heart that could feel sad while listening to those cheers
They swept across the ocean mad to exile's longing ears
With joy some sighed some while others cried
As there in dazzling scene
Kilkenny's star shone bright and far above the white and green
Full fifty thousand hearts beat high
Both long and loud they cheered
And down a human avenue grand those thirty men appeared

II
The sun's bright rays came shimmering down
