“Once upon a time there lived a very clever and accomplished craftsman”
Once upon a time there lived a very clever and accomplished craftsman whose fame at his particular calling gained him the name of being the foremost man in all Ireland. As this man advanced in years it was his greatest wish that he should be blessed with a son to whom he would impart all the knowledge of his trade and as he had several daughters his wife knew of his wish for a son and secretly told a married woman who was a relative of hers and who expected a birth about the same time and whose family were all sons of her wish that if it so happened that if the craftsmans wife gave birth to a daughter and her relative gave birth to a son they agreed to exchange babies without the knowledge of their husbands.
The two woman exchanged babies without the knowledge of their husbands and both babies did well in their new homes, as they grew up in years it was only natural that the craftsman did all in his power to make a first class tradesman of his son but he was often disappointed in him and for all his trouble he could not feel that he was clever as himself was.
This craftsman had a sheepskin for sale, and he sent his son to the market and he wanted the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
