  1. There is an old road leading from the village of Knockmoylan to Lukeswell. It connects Knockmoylan and Lukeswell together. It is a paved road and was made in the time of the Public Works. The Romans made paved roads in England and Irish copied from them. This road is about a mile and a half long. The fences are made of clay. It was the public road from Knockwilliam to Lukeswell beforethe main road was made. There is a big hollow in the road was made. There is a big hollow in the road like a glen and the people call it Gleann na Sceach. The English Government gave a grant in 1848 and this road was made then. All the unemployed men in this locality worked on it. They were great strong men and lived on very little food. The only wages they got was four-pence a day or sometimes a pound of Indian meal. The road is being repaired now and it will be vey useful for the people when it will be completed.
