  1. In the olden times people could foretell the kind of weather to expect. These signs usually were, the sun, moon, and stars. These signs are still beleived - which are as follows.
    When a rainbow is seen in the morning it is the sign of bad weather, and a rainbow at night is a sign of good weather, and the old saying is "A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning, a rainbow at night is the shepherds delight." When the sky is dark and cloudy it is a sign of rain. When the sky is very bright early in the morning it is a sign of rain.
    If the sun is setting red it is a sign of warm weather. When the moon is pale and a circle around it, it is a sign of bad weather. When the sky is covered with stars, it is a sign of frost.
    The birds also tell us more about the weather. When the swallows fly high it is a sign of good weather, and when they fly low it is a sign of wet weather. When the seagulls come in from the sea and fly in the fields it is also a sign of bad weather. When the ducks quack loudly it is a sign of a wet day.
    When the goats stay around the house it is a sign of bad weather. When the sheep come home from the hills it is a sign of stormy weather.
    There are also many signs noticed in the household. When black beetles are seen creeping around the floor, it is a sign of rain, and when soot falls down on the
