Lurks a well of crystal water
Springing neath the hawthorn hoar
There the daisies soonest glisten
There all early buds of spring
Intirmingled with the lichen
Round its margin fondly clingII

Brilliant in the morning sunshine
Dreaming 'neath the moonbeams bright
Pure and clear and unpolluted
As when first from earth it burst
But the place is stained with murder
Foul unnatural and accursedIII
Where the hills of Ballyreddy
Rise above the winding Nore
Once there stood a fuedal mansion
Famous in the days of yore
Not one pile of broken ruins
Not one tree in that domain
Tells that there once stood a castle
Or the wood of De La Freyne(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
