- There are six forges in the parish of Glenmore. There is one situated near a crossroad and also near a straem. There are two of them slated and the rest are felt. All of them have only one fireplace. The water used to cool the irons would cure warts but it is not done now. The work done in them is shoeing horses and mending farm implements. The forge in my townsland is owned by Thomas Dwyer. The implements used in it are a sledge, a hammer, a tongs, a pincers, a vice, the bellows and the anvil. the fire is lit with hayseed and wet slack.
