- Brides sometimes came to see the place of her husband-to-be accompanied by her relations. If the man was not well off, Cattle & ricks of hay & also of straw were sometimes borrowed from the neighbours in order to deceive the others into giving as big a fortune as possible. They were removed before the parties came home from the wedding. This was not a constant practice but it occurred in some known cases
