- A man named Ned Conway or "Ned Raddles" as he was popularly was known as a famous potato digger. He worked from day-break till dark & always had the potatoes in one long heap in a straight line down the whole drill. He could beat any two other men no matter how strong they were. He died & was buried in an old church-yard in a townland called Ullid. And his spade was put into the coffine wityh him when he was being buried

- In Moolum a hilly district situated between Kilmacow and Mullinavat an old woman used to grow flax on her own farm and then reap it & put the flax through all the necessary processes. She had to steep it in a pond in her own field as she would be prosecuted & fined heavily if she were caught steeping the flax in the river (Blackwater a tributary of the Suir) as the poison given off by the flax would kill the fish(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
