- The wild birds found in my district are the Crane, Wild Goose, Pheasant, Woodcock, Grouse, wild duck, partridge. The wild geese migrate. In the month of January they are most plentiful. The crane builds near the stream in Danny Whelan's bogs, Ballinlaw. The wild geese nest near the banks of the Barrow. The pheasant builds in the hills near the woods. The woodcock builds in the wood. The grouse builds in the bogs, the wild duck near the stream and the partridge in the woods.
Near the school there is a district called the Rookery because of the large number of rooks to be seen there. They build their nests on the tops of the high trees. Near Grant's of Carraghmore there are a large numbers of rooks also.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
