  1. The Pleasures of a morning in the Country.
Lo, the lark begins his flight,
And singing, startles the dull night
From his watch-tower in the skies
Till the clo doth, Then we come in full of sorrow.
And at my window bid good morrow
To the sweet bird or the vine or the twisted eglantine
While the cock with lively din
    Scatters the remains of darkness
then, and to the stack or the barn door
    Slowly drives his dames before.
Oft listening now the hounds and horn
    Cheerily rouse the slumbering morn
From the side of some near hill
Through the high wood echoing shrill
    Sometimes walking, not unseen.
By hedge-row, elms on hillocks green.
    Right against the eastern gate.
