There is a Rath situated in Dowling, Piltown, County Kilkenny, by the side of the road. It is owned by a man whose name is James Barry. Dowling rath the people call it. It is round in shape and surrounded by a stone wall. The people say it was the Danes that built it for a hiding place. It was never ploughed nor touched. There is a small pond inside it.
There is a second rath in Ballygown, Piltown, County Kilkenny. James Donovan owns it. Bernie's rath the people call. It is a three corned one surrounded by a stone wall. There is nothing in side
