- The names of some of our fields are
The "Locken" (probably Locán) because water runs at both ends of it
The "Siar Amach": so called because it is the farthest out field on the farm
Other names of fields in my village are
The "Gleannta" so called because of the hollow in one end of it
The "Sean-garrdha" is really only a corner of a larger field. Near this field there was a village which has now disappeared It is probably that the Sean-Garrdha was a haggard attached to one of the houses
The "Garrdhaín" is a field on the side of the road from Curlody to Carrigeen.
The "Garrdha na Sceiche" is opposite my house
The "Garryvogue" (probably Garrdha Mhaodhóg) is at the back of our haggard
The "Bán an Bhaile" is so called because it is so near to the house of the owner
The "Lickaneesca" (probably Lic an Uisce) is a field owned by Mr. Walsh
