Once upon a time a woman named Biddy Hopkins lived in Cummeen Elphin. She used to sell buttermilk. If she sold you eleven pints she would take a mouthful out of each pint. One day a woman asked her why she used to taste each pint of milk. "Well, said Biddy, "An old witch" told me if I sold any more than eleven pints without tasting them, " "I would have no more buttermilk.
