The old people have signs of the weather so they know when it is going to rain.
There is a pond in Cummeen in the Co Roscommon which often overflows itself and forms a little lake. Now if it goes down of a sudden after heavy rain it is a sign of bad weather.
If the old people saw suit fall out of the chimney they said it would surely rain.
If an old man or an woman had a pain or an ache in there bones they said it was a sign of bad weather.
If the swallows flew low it was a sign of rain, but if they flew high it was a sign that the weather would be good..
When there is going to be severe weather the wild geese are to be seen flying about this country.
