Leipreachán Stories (ar lean)
“Near Boyle is situated the fairies hill and it is said that many people have seen the little man known as the Leipreachán.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)A mermaid was seen by a man returning from a ramble one evening. He was passing by Boyle creamery, now disused, and heard a wail from the river which runs near by. On looking down he saw the mermaid sitting in the water, combing her hair which floated in the water and he told that she was covered with sea weed.
She wailed an cried and suddenly disappeared. Soon after one of his family was drowned. It is said that she comes to warn certain families of a drowning in the family and has been seen three or four times in the Boyle river at different parts.- Bailitheoir
