- In my locality there are a few fairy-forts. There are many stories and old legends connected with them. A small distance from my home there is a fort. It is situated in a field the property of a man named Walsh and the name of the townland is Culshera. The fort is in one corner of the field. It is surrounded by many small trees and in the centre of the fort there is a lone-bush and a large clump of stones.
During the time of the Celts a crock of gold was supposed to be hidden under the lone-bush. It is said that a black cat is guarding the treasure. No attempts have ever been made to unearth the gold. Once a man was fencing the field in which the fort is situated. He cut down(continues on next page)- Collector
