    There are a great many varieties of birds in our district, the most common of those being the blackbird, robin, thrush, sparrow, seagull, swan, pigeon, blue-bird dove and swallow. The cuckoo and corncrake visit the district for a short period every summer. They usually build their nests in hedges and in the trees, and they also build them in sheltered places along the ground.
    The nests are usually made of twigs, interwoven with moss and grass, and plastered on the outside with clay, and on the inside lined with downy feathers.
