In olden days the Catholics were down trodden by the english. They could not own a horse worth more than eight pounds, they could not be Doctors or soldiers. They could not live within seven miles of a shop. If a man of another religion saw a horse or anything with the Catholic that he liked, the Catholic would have to sell it to him. The Catholic Children were taught under hedge schools, because it was against the law for them to be taught at National Schools.Vera Spooner
